A promise made by her younger son.
Hariram's Home Needs is a woman-led, farm-made business — built on a promise a mother made to her sons, and to every home she now serves.
Why Sowdhamini still makes it the honest way
Sowdhamini had always made ghee at home. When a well-wisher and guide she trusted encouraged her to turn it into a small business, she decided to give it a try — on her own terms, sourcing milk from a trusted friend's farm nearby.
The day she made that decision, it was her younger son who had one request: make it exactly the way we drink it at home — pure, with nothing added, because it's something the whole family has every single day. That need to be ethical, coming from her own child, is what shaped how Hariram's Home Needs is run to this day.
The podi came about almost by accident. Sowdhamini had always packed homemade paruppu podi and idli podi into her two sons' school lunches — and it wasn't long before their friends, and even their teachers, were asking for jars of their own. That's what convinced her to put the same podi on the shelf alongside the ghee.
Today, it's a woman-led business built on three things Sowdhamini won't compromise on: no adulteration, no cruelty to the animals in her care, and using every rupee earned to fund the education of children who need it.
Four things we don't compromise on
Purity
Only A2 cow milk, nothing blended in, nothing added. No adulteration, ever.
Cruelty-free
Our cows are cared for gently, on a trusted friend's farm, at every step of the process.
Woman-led
Started and run by Sowdhamini, from the farm to the final jar.
Giving back
Every rupee earned goes toward the education of children who need it.
Every jar helps a child stay in school.
The earnings from Hariram's Home Needs don't stop at the business — they go toward the education of children who need it most. It's the reason Sowdhamini started, and the reason every batch is made the honest way.
